The Cirios Management Team

Cirios was founded with a single goal in mind: Become an advocate for home buyers throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and help them navigate a historically confusing real estate market. Our integrity, experience and expertise in market analysis and property valuation gives our clients the edge they need when looking to make the biggest financial investment of their lives.

Andrew Jeffery, Chief Executive Officer
Andrew started his career in 2002 at Wembley Asset Management, an independent mortgage warehouse bank. Just two years later, one of the Wembley partners enlisted Andrew to establish and run a new warehouse lending facility at The Winter Group (TWG), a diversified mortgage investment company. Andrew hired Ryan Taylor to oversee day-to-day operations, and together they grew the highly profitable program to more than $500 million in outstanding loans in fewer than 18 months.

Andrew left the mortgage business in early 2007 to stop and survey what he believed would be a truly historic housing market collapse and search for opportunities likely to emerge on the other side. After a short stint as an editor at Minyanville Publishing and Multimedia, Andrew, along with Ryan Taylor and Austin Nelson, formed Cirios Real Estate, a boutique real estate brokerage in San Francisco.

Andrew’s breadth of experience in the financial industry, passion for providing unparalleled customer service and vision for the future of real estate allow him to steer the Cirios ship but also appreciate the finer things that matter to each Cirios client.

Andrew holds degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of California at San Diego, and enjoys running, writing, photography, surfing and the trials and tribulations of being an entrepreneur during the “Great Recession.” Andrew contributes a weekly column, “Keepin’ It Real Estate,” to Minyanville, along with daily articles covering financial and economic news. His work has also appeared in the HousingWire monthly magazine. Andrew is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson.

Ryan Taylor, President
Ryan began his career in the mail room of a prestigious San Francisco law firm, Sideman and Bancroft. Quickly recognizing his talent for organization and efficiency, within a year the firm promoted Ryan to head of the records department, where he revamped the entire organizational system. After two years at the law firm, Ryan accepted an offer to join Andrew Jeffery in New York at The Winter Group, a mortgage investment company. Ryan managed all day-to-day operations for the mortgage warehouse lending group, including all risk management and loss mitigation efforts. Ryan then joined The Winter Group’s distressed asset group, managing all REOs, short sales and foreclosures for a $12 billion loan portfolio. Ryan was promoted to Director of Property Valuation and oversaw home price analysis for the firm’s whole loan trading operations.

Ryan returned to California in 2008 to join Andrew and Austin in founding Cirios Real Estate, a boutique real estate brokerage providing value-added services to home buyers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ryan also oversees Cirios’s Asset Management arm, which works with investors in the distressed mortgage space. Ryan offers Cirios’s brokerage clients a unique perspective into the opaque world of distressed real estate, allowing them to capitalize on opportunities to buy homes at a discount to their long-term, intrinsic value.

Ryan holds a degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University and enjoys anything and everything related to sports. Ryan’s brain is literally overflowing with esoteric sports trivia, and he is not shy about sharing this passion with anyone even moderately interested in Bay Area sports. Ryan is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson.

Austin Nelson, Chief Information Officer
Austin is a scientist turned real estate guru. After completing his Masters in Neurosciences at the University of California at San Diego, one of the most highly acclaimed neurosciences programs in the country, Austin identified a unique opportunity to apply his understanding of advanced statistics and neural systems to the housing market, where his analytic expertise could be of immense value.

At Cirios, Austin manages a wealth of real estate information, including historical pricing data for the Bay Area spanning the last 20 years. The algorithms Austin has developed form the backbone of Cirios’s analytic approach to identifying and predicting home price trends. When coupled with qualitative, property-specific analysis, this approach allows Cirios to evaluate properties with a depth of understanding that is truly unique in the industry.

In addition to his Masters in Neurosciences, Austin also holds a BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UCSD. When he isn’t poring over nuanced data patterns, Austin enjoys spending time in his garden, reading, writing and exploring the back roads of California. Austin is a licensed Real Estate Broker.

Brian Baker, General Counsel
Brian is an attorney with over 4 years of experience handling real and intellectual property law cases. Brian received his J.D. from the University of California at Hastings, and interned under the honorable Judge Martin J. Jenkins, then a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Brian cut his legal teeth as an associate at McDermott Will & Emery LLP, a large law firm with offices worldwide, where he focused on biotech patent litigation and licensing. He also worked actively on construction defect and landlord/tenant disputes on behalf of individual and corporate clients, giving him hands on experience with resolving and avoiding real estate related disputes.

After paying his dues at the law firm, Brian looked to reunite with good friends and utilize his legal training in a small business setting. In the summer of 2009, Brian jumped at the opportunity to bring his broad legal experiences to the Cirios Real Estate Team, where he now acts as the General Counsel. Brian manages all legal related issues at Cirios, including contracting with clients, asset management, corporate governance, investment structuring and managing all outside legal counsel. The addition of Brian’s unique experience and awareness of the real estate industry’s many legal nuances enables Cirios to provide its customers and clients comprehensive services that other brokerages and asset managers do not readily provide.

In addition to holding a J.D. from UC Hastings, Brian is a member of the State Bar of California, a registered patent attorney, and holds a B.S. in Microbiology from the University of California at San Diego. On the off chance that he does not have a large stack of paperwork to review, Brian enjoys planning his next round-the-world backpack trip to watch soccer matches, playing tennis, or hustling a poker game. Brian is a licensed Real Estate Broker.
